Our History
SAFAD was found in 1969 after a project to Iran in 1968 when 2 postgraduates and 2 undergraduates of then Silsoe college, arranged their own sponsorship from companies and organisations and travelled to Iran for 5 weeks.

They stayed at the Karaj Agricultural Training Centre in Iran where they carried out investigations into the efficiency of agricultural irrigation systems and demonstrated machinery and soil conservation techniques to students.

The first of many Africa based projects took place in Kenya in 1972, and the first South American project was in Honduras in 1984.
